Still Free

Romans 5:3-5 — Suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Burdens weigh

hurts cut

wounds reopen

thorns pierce

chains hold

darkness blinds -

but still

I am free.

I may grieve

for a night,

I may weep

for a moment,

I may suffer

for a lifetime -

but still

I am free.

The blood prevails,

the grave is empty -

forever

I am free.
